The pandemic has really dampened the holiday spirit this 2020. It looks like social and family get-togethers are cancelled this holiday season because large gatherings are placing us at risk of contracting the virus, according to this Texas Tribune article by Aria Jones titled "

For families, this Thanksgiving holiday is no exception, and it will definitely be different than years that have come before it. The article stated that Texas officials are suggesting to cancel gatherings this Thanksgiving whether large or small.
Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said Tuesday: "Cancel gatherings, large and small, unless you're with your household," "We're in a war against this virus. This is not the time to lament that we didn't get a gathering this time around."
Airlines already reported that travel is up for the holidays and health experts are a bit concerned for those who have plans to travel to their homes this Thanksgiving and Christmas as well.
"The worst thing I could think of is to take people from all over the country, put them in planes and mix them up. That's almost like you designed something to spread the virus aggressively" said Dr. James McDeavitt, dean of clinical affairs at the Baylor College of Medicine.
The article gave hope that to deal with this isolation of not being able to meet with families could be substituted with virtual meetings or visit the family or friends in the area by following the precautions set by the CDC.
